 Since
1996, Pro-Natura has been the promoter of canopy raft expeditions. Three major
scientific missions organized.French Guyana 1996, Gabon 1999. The last "Canopy
Raft" scientific mission took place between 10th October and 10th December 2001
in the National Park of Masaola, with a total of 75 researchers in collaboration
with Opération Canopée, the NGO owning the equipment.
One of the main objectives has been to collect samples from the forest's canopy
for the Biodivalor program. In the canopy, the natural molecules are potentially
more varied and abundant than at lower forest levels.
