Peace Parks Foundation


>> In 2003 a cooperative agreement was signed with the Peace Parks Foundation (PPF), where Pro-Natura confirms its commitment to promote and establish "Peace Parks" in the Americas.

Transboundary Conservation Areas such as Peace Parks apply the concepts of conservation and sustainable and development in large geographic areas along frontier regions and promote collaboration of natural resources management between nations. Pro-Natura is currently conducting feasibility studies for the establishment of Peace Parks in several locations in the Americas.


PNI's Partnership with Earth Council Alliance

>> ECA has funded a study with Pro-Natura International to define the scope and feasibility of a Global Institute of Sustainability to be based in Rio de Janeiro.

Cordão de Mata (PRODESUDE)

>> Pro-Natura International won the 2005 American Chamber of Commerce Environmental Award in Brazil , for the Project "Cordão de Mata" (PRODESUDE), in the Forestry Category.

>> A long-term program that sought to protect, restore and replenish remnants of the Atlantic Forest, primarily on private lands surrounding remaining parks and reserves in northern Rio de Janeiro. The Project was financed for 16 years by White Martins/Praxair >>


Canopy Raft Expeditions

Since 1996, Pro-Natura has been the promoter of canopy raft expeditions.

Three major scientific missions are being organized and three missions have already been concluded:

- French Guyana 1996,
- Gabon 1999 and
- Madagascar 2001.

The Rubber Tree Project


>> Pro-Natura International is a partner and collaborator in the revitalization and expansion of rubber tree cultivation in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The project is coordinated by the PESAGRO-Rio, and its main partners are EMBRAPA Solos, Firjan, Michelin and EMATER-RIO. The project is sponsored by FAPERJ.
